Volunteer positions available with Red Cross and Long Term Aging and Care
Red Cross
Volunteers are needed to help veterans fish at the Tomah VA pond. Fishing takes place every other Saturday morning. Volunteers are also needed to play blackjack with veterans the last Thursday evening of each month. Volunteers are needed to help deal and socialize.
State of WI Board on Long Term Aging and Care Ombudsman
The Volunteer Ombudsman program is looking for compassionate volunteers to spend two to three hours a week at a local nursing home visiting with the residents.
An ombudsman acts as an advocate for residents and are the “eyes and ears” of the regional ombudsman. They voice any concerns the resident or their family may have and help them resolve and concerns or issues that may arise during their stay.
Volunteers are provided an orientation and ongoing training. This volunteer position is very flexible and can fit around any schedule and is available in Wood and Adams Counties.
