Nekoosa girls take loss to Mosinee

NEKOOSA – The Nekoosa girls basketball team hosted Mosinee on Jan. 7, and lost after a tight first half.
The score sat at 23-19 with about a minute left in the first half when Mosinee’s quickness and press started to take its toll on Nekoosa. Mosinee outscored the Papermakers 10-2, to end the half with a score of 33-21.
In the second half, Mosinee kept up the press and fast break and pulled away for a 72-45 win.
Nekoosa was led by Kiya Kolo, with 10 points with three 3-pointers.
Coach Scott Linzmeier said, “Nakia Wiesen had a very nice game coming off the bench with eight points and also had key rebounds and steals.”
Marissa Harnisch also scored eight points for Nekoosa.
Next up for the Papermakers is a home game against Wisconsin Dells on Jan. 10. A win on Friday would move Nekoosa in a tie for first place with Wisconsin Dells in the South Central Conference.
Nekoosa record falls to 6-4.
