Port Edwards girls win first contest of season

WISCONSIN RAPIDS – The Port Edwards girls basketball team won their first contest of the season at Tri-County on Jan. 7.
Both teams entered the contest without a win and Tri-County was just ahead at half, with a score of 16-14. Port Edwards found better success in the second half, outscoring their opponents, 21-11, giving Port Edwards their first win of the season, 35-27.
Leading scorers for Port Edwards were Taylor Martin with 24 points (four 3-pointers), and Dominique Griffith with five points of her own. Katerina Hamus had nine rebounds and six assists.
Port Edwards plays Pittsville at home on Jan. 10.
