WISCONSIN RAPIDS – Wisconsin Rapids Mayor Zach Vruwink will seek a fifth term in the spring election, but will face opposition from two candidates.

District 8 Alder Shane Blaser will challenge Vruwink for his seat, as will Patrick Delaney.

Two other council seats in even-numbered districts will see challengers – District 2 Alder Vernon Verjinsky will be up against Carolynn Peterson Martin and Dean Veneman in the February primary and District 6 Alder Jake Cattanach will face Dennis Polach.

District 8 Alder Jay Bemke and District 4 Alder Tom Rayome are running unopposed.

In the Wisconsin Rapids School Board race, current board members Sandra Hett and John Krings will not see any challengers.

The spring primary will be held Feb. 18 and the general election on April 7.
