Auburndale girls, boys take Assumption

AUBURNDALE – Both the Auburndale girls and boys basketball teams took Assumption in conference play Jan. 16-17.
Auburndale girls basketball travelled to Assumption High School on Jan. 16 for a conference game against Assumption, and handed them a crushing loss.
Auburndale dominated both halves of the game. The first half ended with Auburndale leading, 24-13. Auburndale then outscored the Royals in the second half, resulting in a 54-38 final.
Natalie Aue scored 13 points for the Apaches, with teammates Taylor Stanton and Kaitlyn Kundinger adding 10 more each. Assumption’s scoring was led by Jesse Grundhoffer with 12 points, and Kayla Kerkman and Maddie Bohn each added 11.
The Auburndale Apaches boys basketball team traveled to Wisconsin Rapids on Jan. 17.
Auburndale held a demanding lead at halftime over the Royals, 43-11. The Apaches also outscored the Royals in the second half, giving them a 63-25 win.
Auburndale’s Cooper Weinfurter was high for the night with 21 points –15 of them coming from 3-pointers – and 6 rebounds. Fletcher Raab added four more 3-pointers for the Apaches and had a total of 18 points for the night. Alec Sullivan was high scorer for Assumption with eight points.
