What’s happening in Wisconsin Rapids: Freezing for a reason
By Taylor J. Hale
Is winter not cold enough? Freeze for a reason by plunging into icy waters this February at the annual Polar Plunge, when area residents flock to Wisconsin Rapids to help support the Special Olympics, by jumping into chilly bodies of water each year.
The Wisconsin Rapids Polar Plunge will be held on Feb. 1 and this year’s plunge is different. Instead of plummeting into an icy river or lake, jumpers will hop into frigid pool water at Ridges Golf Course, 2311 Griffith Ave., Wisconsin Rapids.
The plunge kicks off at noon, followed by live music and a 50/50 raffle.
Can’t make it to the Wisconsin Rapids plunge? No problem. There are 13 official Polar Plunges that take place in Wisconsin throughout February and March. Upcoming plunges will be held Feb. 01: Kenosha; Feb. 01: Wisconsin Rapids; Feb. 08: Menomonie; Feb. 08: Whitewater; Feb. 09: Muskego; Feb. 15: Madison; Feb. 15: Milwaukee Zoo; Feb. 15: Oshkosh; Feb. 22: Oconomowoc; Feb. 22: Wausau; Feb. 23: Eau Claire; Mar. 07: Green Bay Mar. 07: La Crosse
