WISCONSIN RAPIDS – Aspirus hospitals are implementing visitor restrictions to keep patients safe during this active flu season. The following hospitals currently have restrictions in place for visitors: Aspirus Iron River Hospital, Aspirus Langlade Hospital, and Aspirus Wausau Hospital.

The restrictions will also go into effect at Aspirus Riverview Hospital, Wisconsin Rapids, effective Feb. 5 at 8 a.m.

The decision to put restrictions in place is based on flu activity by region and specific thresholds related to the number of inpatient admissions due to the flu and the percentage of the patient population that test positive for influenza.

The restrictions include: children under 12 may not visit inpatient areas or waiting rooms; no more than two visitors per patient at a time; and no visitors that have a fever, cough, runny nose/nasal congestion, or sore throat may visit.
These restrictions will remain in place until the end of flu season, as defined by Infection Prevention Specialists at Aspirus based on regional flu activity.

The remaining hospitals in the Aspirus system will continue to monitor flu activity in their regions and implement visitor restrictions as appropriate.
