Nekoosa loses high scoring contest

WISCONSIN RAPIDS – Nekoosa boys basketball faced Wautoma, in Wautoma, for a high-scoring South Central conference matchup on Feb. 6.
The story of the game was Wautoma’s shooting from beyond the arc. Wautoma got out fast, up 18-4 early. Closer to the end of the half, Nekoosa was down 37-18, but made a 12-0 run to end the half. Wautoma made 17 threes throughout the game, which led them to an 87-71 victory.
Nekoosa was led by Jace Lobner, scoring 23 points, and Damek Walker with 20. Wautoma was led by Gabe Ascher with 23 points, and Kade Panich added 21 of his own.
Nekoosa moved to 4-12 overall, 0-7 in conference. Wautoma moved to 10-6 overall, 3-3 in conference.
Nekoosa’s next game is another conference game at home versus Wisconsin Dells, on Feb. 11.
