NAPE wrestling boasts four conference champs

NEKOOSA – The South Central conference wrestling meet was held at Nekoosa High School on Feb. 7, where Nekoosa/Assumption/Port Edwards wrestling team finished with four wrestling champions.
Nathan Gellerup (113), Blaze Thurber (120), Gavin Hall (126), and James Schaefbauer (285) each finished as South Central Conference champs. Adding to the team’s accomplishments was Ben Elsen (182), finishing in second. Klayton Havlovic (145) and Sawyer Kniprath (152), and Hunter Boudreau (195) all finished third. Tarren Hoffman (106) and Hudson Goodwin (220) each finished fourth for the team. Finishing in fifth was Hunter Ebbe (132), Juan Torres (138), and Michael Wilson, Jr. (170).
As a team, the NAPE wrestlers placed third, with 205 points, behind Wisconsin Dells, with 225.5, and Adams-Friendship with 222.
Up next for the wrestling team is regional competition on Feb. 15 at Waupaca High School.
