Lincoln continues wrestling tradition

WISCONSIN RAPIDS – Wisconsin Rapids Lincoln hosted, and won, the Wisconsin Valley Conference championship held on Feb. 8.

Wisconsin Rapids placed first as a team, followed by D.C. Everest, SPASH, Wausau West, Marshfield, Merrill, and Wausau East.

Wisconsin Rapids also finished with four individual conference champions: Preston Spray (106), Wyler Lubeck (152), Peter Rucker (182), and Andrew Schutz. Josh Black (120) finished second. Taking third were: Aceyn Meyer (113), Lukas Erickson (126), Leo Brostowitz (170), and Josh Hansen (220). Fourth place finishers were: Ryan Sering (132), Cole Ladick (138), Damien Bennett (145), and Sam Scheidegger (285). Dakotah Braatz (160) finished sixth.

WIAA Regionals will take place on Feb. 15 at D.C. Everest High School.
