WISCONSIN RAPIDS – A Mid-State Technical College faculty member was recently recognized for contributions to the success and advancement of land surveying in Wisconsin. Greg Webster, Civil Engineering Technology-Highway Technician instructor, was presented with the Friend of Wisconsin Land Surveying Award at the Wisconsin Society of Land Surveyors (WSLS) Annual Institute on Jan. 30.

The award is given annually to an individual who has contributed to the success or advancement of land surveying in Wisconsin.

Marathon County Surveyor Dave Decker nominated Webster for the award last November, citing his contributions to the Central Chapter of the WSLS. “I couldn’t be happier to see Greg receive this much-deserved recognition,” Decker said. “Thanks to his tireless efforts, Mid-State’s Civil Engineering students have the preparation needed to pursue state licensure, and many are already active members of the professional community with connections to employers.”

Decker’s nomination touted Webster’s support of professional licensing efforts for his students, including his work to enhance Mid-State’s Civil Engineering Technology-Highway Technician program curriculum. Webster recently completed the requirements to become a Level IV Certified Survey Technician (CST), enabling him to administer CST exams to students.
