Wisconsin Rapids Aqua Skiers Show Team starts land practices
For the City Times
WISCONSIN RAPIDS – The Wisconsin Rapids Aqua Skiers Show Team has officially kicked off their 2020 season, with scheduled winter land practices at St. Luke’s Church in Wisconsin Rapids.
During land practice the team works on climbing pyramids, strap doubles, trios, conventionals, and dances, in order to master the skills before the skiers take to the water.
Last year the team took home a Division One fourth place finish at the Wisconsin State Water Ski Show Championships and qualified for the Division One National Water Ski Show Tournament in Warsaw, IN. This was the team’s first time competing at the Division One National Show Ski Championships since 2004. The team is one of the largest in the state, with just over 95 members, and they have set their sights on qualifying and competing at the Division One National Water Ski Show Championships again this season.
New members are welcome and encouraged to attend land practices. Membership paperwork will be available at practice and board members will be present to answers questions about joining the team.
“The Ski community is very family oriented and we are always looking for new members to join our team,” said show director, Tricia Klein.
Upcoming land practice dates: March 29, April 5, April 26, 1-3 p.m.
