Area athletes receive WVC all-conference honors

CENTRAL WISCONSIN – Wisconsin Valley Conference (WVC) all-conference honors were recently announced. Recipients include:

Boys Basketball

First Team:  Michael Casper*, Merrill; Gabe Krueger*, Wausau East; Grant Flory*, Wisconsin Rapids Lincoln; Alec Stuedemann*, D.C. Everest; and Evan Vollendorf, Stevens Point. Second Team: Anthony Posteluk and Joey Goettl, Marshfield; Bryan Halambeck, D.C. Everest; Nate Streveler, Stevens Point; and Nathan Woller, Merrill. Honorable Mention: Ethan Ostrowski and Colton Hall, D.C. Everest; Addison Hill and Sam Hinson, Marshfield; Piersen Pyan, Merrill; James Jacobs, Stevens Point; Ben Cayley, Wausau East; Max Helke and Amillion Buggs, Wausau West; and Dylan Lisitza, Wisconsin Rapids Lincoln. Player of the Year: Michael Casper, Merrill. Coach of the Year: Jerry Pagel, D.C. Everest.

Girls Basketball

First Team: Leah Earnest*, Stevens Point; Courtney Krueger*, Merrill;  Kaydee Johnson*, Marshfield; Anna Cunningham* and Kiley Deaton, Wausau West. Second Team: Maddie Michaelis, Marshfield; Megan Clary and  Vanessa Vechinski, Wis. Rapids Lincoln; Zoe Fink, Stevens Point; and Hanna Stuedemann, D.C. Everest. Honorable Mention: Kiara Hammond, D.C. Everest; Desirae Weisenberger and Paige Preston, Marshfield;  Ashley Prebeg, Merrill; Emma Jossie and Tahlia Moe, Stevens Point; Abby Thompson and Elizabeth Boulanger, Wausau East; Grace Michalske and Maddie Hauer, Wausau West; Alli Martin and Chelsea King, Wisconsin Rapids Lincoln. Everest; Forward Marc Sippel, Wausau West*; and Forward Carson Marquardt Wausau West. Second Team: Goalie Torger Stachurski, Wisconsin Rapids Lincoln; Defenseman Austin Conley, Stevens Point; Defenseman Jake Bailey, Wausau West; Forward Davis Hackbarth, D.C. Everest; Forward Kade Smigaj, Stevens Point; and Forward Cole Hannes, Wausau West. Honorable Mention: Goalie Ethan Hurt, D.C. Everest; Goalie A.J.
