For the City Times

Wisconsin Rapids – Wood County public health officials are requesting donations of personal protective equipment (PPE) to supplement existing supplies in the event that there is a surge of patients.

During this unprecedented public health emergency, stocks of PPE for healthcare providers are essential, according to Sue Kunferman, Wood County Health Department Director/Health Officer. Healthcare personnel working in our hospitals and clinics need PPE when caring for patients. Adhering to infection prevention and control practices prevents the further spread of coronavirus.

The Wood County Health Department is encouraging all outpatient surgical and procedural centers, ambulatory surgery centers, dental providers, veterinarians, schools, construction companies, nail/hair salons, and others to donate their unused PPE that is not immediately needed to assist healthcare providers, healthcare facilities, and first responders.

PPE items requested include N95 respirators, surgical masks, gowns, gloves, face shields, and safety glasses/goggles.

Donations can be made to the Wood County Health Department and will be distributed where needed. To make arrangements for a donation, call the Wood County Health Department, 715-421-8911.
