Letter to the Editor: Shiny new times in Wisconsin Rapids

Dear editor,

I am writing this letter in support of Zach Vruwink for mayor, in my opinion the best we have had in a long time.

Gone are the old-timers who sat on their complacency, watching our city struggling to survive. Mayor Vruwink came in, unafraid of change and unafraid of ruffling old tired feathers and started life-support on a stagnant city.

Now, for the first time in years, there is hope this city can live again, even flourish. A young forward-thinking mayor is revitalizing this old dying city and is bringing new life to Wisconsin Rapids.

Our young people are deciding to stay while others are even returning to raise their young families.

Most of my eight kids left their home town as fast as their legs could carry them. They wanted more, better, than to spend their lives on a barstool at “Johnny’s,” reminiscing about their glory days in high school.

With Mayor Vruwink, Wisconsin Rapids is beginning to offer so much more to our young people.

The Rapids Rafters recently signed to remain another 10 years; the River Kings are a huge benefit for our young people; the new Water Park; Boys and Girls Club; and YMCA. This is a good start at bringing people which means a better economy, which means jobs for our young people.

Our city can not only survive, but thrive. Just take a drive through our city streets. You’ll see exciting shiny, new times, thanks to Mayor Zach Vruwink. He has my vote on April 7.
