Letter to the Editor: Reader urges voters to support Vruwink

Dear editor,

After yet another Wood County resident tested positive for COVID-19, I feel compelled to urge voters to support Mayor Zach Vruwink for re-election.

I am a retired registered nurse who has lived my entire life in Wisconsin Rapids. Mayor Vruwink’s visibility and public service announcements are very important in this time of uncertainty.  He understands the importance of keeping city staff and residents safe while still conducting business essential to the city operations.

Mayor Vruwink has scheduled and facilitated briefings with businesses, the Chamber of Commerce and the Wood County Health Department to help support businesses during this difficult time. Under Mayor Vruwink’s leadership, a declaration of a state of emergency positions Wisconsin Rapids to receive state and federal resources.

This pandemic will continue to test the mettle of all of our leaders.  I believe Mayor Zach Vruwink is the best choice to lead us through this demanding and challenging time.

Vote to re-elect Zach Vruwink as our mayor.
