Scouting for Food; Boys Scouts go online with local food collection

CENTRAL WISCONSIN – Local Boys Scouts of America groups are moving online with this year’s food collection.

“Scouts are not going door to door this year to collect food for our food banks.  We need all of our community members who normally donate food for Scouting for Food to donate money instead.  100 percent of the proceeds will directly support food banks in their community,” said Boys Scouts of America Development Director Adam Freund.

“To ensure Scouts remain safe, the annual Scouting for Food project will be moving to an online cash donation format,” a release from the organization says.

“During this unprecedented time, Scouting continues to serve youth and families across North Central Wisconsin.  Youth are working closely with their family to complete Scouting projects at home.  Virtual campouts are taking place, connecting local youth with youth across our great Nation.  Scouting also remains committed to meeting community needs through service.  With the growing economic hardship facing our communities, local food banks need Scouting for Food more than ever.”

The collection will run April 15-30. To donate, text “give food” to 844-615-4269 or visit www.samoset.org/SFF.
