WISCONSIN RAPIDS – Wisconsin Rapids has a new mayor after city council member, Shane Blaser defeated incumbent Zach Vruwink, 2543-2231.

Blaser

Vruwink has held the mayor’s seat since 2012. Blaser has represented Wisconsin Rapids District 8 since 2016. He is also a former city clerk.

In District 2, Dean Veneman and Vernon Verjinsky tied, 213-213.

In District 6, Jake Cattanach defeated Dennis Polach, 302-244.

Normally in a situation where a race results in a tie, one or both candidates ask for a recount. If the results are still the same, candidates will be asked to draw cards or flip a coin to determine a winner.
