WISCONSIN RAPIDS – Mid-State Technical College students now have the opportunity to receive emergency funding as part of the Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act.

The Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund established by the new legislation allows colleges to seek funding, and then make final distribution to their students.

Mid-State applied for and was awarded funding for distribution to current full-time and part-time students to help meet their obligations in the areas of course materials, technology, food, housing, healthcare, and childcare through the end of the semester.

“The amount each student is eligible for is determined by their specific needs, up to a maximum of $1,500 for the spring semester, and does not have to be paid back, which is an important feature of the program,” said Dr. Mandy Lang, Mid-State’s vice president of student services and enrollment management. “The funding will allow currently enrolled students to apply for grant funding to help cover essential living expenses and stay on track to finish the spring semester, register for summer and fall semesters and ultimately graduate from Mid-State.”

Applications will be awarded on a first-come, first-served basis and can be found and completed at mstc.edu/covid-19-funds.
