WISCONSIN RAPIDS – The city of Wisconsin Rapids held a recount on April 20 to confirm the results of the District 2 alder race following the April 7 spring election.

The original count resulted in a 213-213 tie between Vernon Verjinsky and Dean Veneman.

“The results from the April 13th canvas stand,” said Wisconsin Rapids Clerk Jennifer M. Gossick following the recount.

Gossick said that the recount tallies ended the same on April 20, with a 213-213 tie. Because the board of canvas confirmed the results, no additional coin toss was needed and the April 13 toss remains valid.

“Dean Veneman is the new Alderperson for District 2,” Gossick said.
