For the City Times

WISCONSIN RAPIDS – United Way of South Wood & Adams Counties is the fiscal agent for a supplemental award from the federal Emergency Management Agency’s Emergency Food and Shelter Program (EFSP) for 2020 under the CARES Act.

Wood County has been awarded $38, 613 in federal CARES Act funds, made available through the Department of Homeland Security (DHS)/Federal Emergency Management Agency under the Emergency Food and Shelter National Board Program.  This funding is in response to COVID-19 and the impact it has had on communities.

Funds are used for direct emergency aid and are distributed through local agencies in Wood County.  Under the terms of the grant from the National EFSP Board, local agencies chosen to receive funds must be private voluntary non-profits or units of government; be eligible to receive federal funds; have an accounting system; practice nondiscrimination; have demonstrated the capability to deliver emergency food and/or shelter programs; and if they are a private voluntary organization, have a voluntary board.

Qualified local emergency aid agencies may request an application by contacting 715-421-0390 or at [email protected].

Completed applications must be received in the United Way office at 351 Oak Street, Wisconsin Rapids, WI, 54494 by May 20, 2020 at noon.
