For the City Times

WISCONSIN RAPIDS –Aspirus Riverview Hospital medical/surgical/pediatrics unit and critical care unit staff recently purchased 400 loaves of bread and 400 half gallons of milk for area children. On May 7, health care workers from these units distributed the bread and milk through the Wisconsin Rapids Public Schools Food Service program drive through.

Every Monday and Thursday, the school food service distributes approximately 5,600 meals at Lincoln High School and 1,600 meals at Mead Elementary School. Grocery bags distributed on Mondays and Thursdays contain enough food for the children to have meals for the days in between. The free program is available to all children up to age 18 while Safer at Home measures are in place.
