Riverkings sign Lincoln goalie

WISCONSIN RAPIDS – The Wisconsin Rapids Riverkings have signed Lincoln High School goalie, Torger Stachurski for the upcoming 2020-21 USPHL season.
“Riverkings are not only adding a high quality goalie but an exceptional young man in Torger,” Lincoln High School Hockey Head Coach Pat MacDonald said. “It will be exciting to watch his growth right in our own backyard with our hometown Riverkings.”
“Torger is a young man that he knows very well, his family has been a host family for the past five years and we have seen Torger develop into one of the best goalies in the state,” said Riverkings Head Coach Marty Quarters. “This is what the Riverkings have preached from day one with our motto of building hockey up and down the river, now having one of our billet brothers from a local host family as a player on the Riverkings is very rewarding.
“Make no mistake, Torger has earned this opportunity because of his hard work, ability, character, and the outstanding season he had this past year as one of the state’s best goalies. The coaching staff at Lincoln have done an outstanding job preparing Torger for this opportunity and Coach Mac, Gundy, and Shinler all pushed Torger through the years which led to an impressive senior year and a chance to not only play Junior hockey but also on the path to hopefully play at the NCAA level.
“Torger has really grown as a prospect on the ice, but he has always carried himself as an outstanding teammate and gentleman off the ice and in his community”
Quarters added that the 6’1” Rapids native is also a top student with plans to study engineering.
This is the second full-time Riverking from Wisconsin Rapids following Colton Flammini’s path.
