For the City Times

WOOD COUNTY – Wood County officials have identified the two men involved in a nearly head-on collision on May 24.

It happened just before 8 p.m. on State Highway 13, near Tower Road in the Wood County town of Saratoga. According to the Wood County Sheriff’s Department, 32-year-old Nicholas Gagnon of Wisconsin Rapids was traveling north on Highway 13, when he veered across the center line and into the path of a southbound jeep driven by 28-year-old Corbin Kelnhofer of Wisconsin Rapids.

Kelnhofer was transported by a Life Link III helicopter, with serious injuries, after being ejected from his vehicle. Gagnon suffered minor injuries. Highway 13 was closed for 2.5 hours after the crash occurred.

Wood County deputies were assisted by Grand Rapids and Nekoosa police departments, the Wood County Sheriff’s Rescue Squad, the Wisconsin Rapids, Rome, and Nekoosa fire departments, and Saratoga first responders.
