NEKOOSA – The Chak Ha Chee Headstart celebrated their 2020 graduating class on May 29, with curbside ceremonies at each of the graduating student’s home.

A caravan of parents and staff, including Veronica Rodriguez, Heidi Elsen, Toni Scheel, Jack Harries, and Linda Stanislawski traveled on a bus. Each graduate got the “red carpet treatment” with a certificate ceremony including parents and grandparents, using safety precautions. Graduates were also given a Dr. Seuss book, green backpacks, and a pizza to hold a family celebration, through a partnership with Domtar.

“We know it was not the big celebration that we would have wanted, but we did want to make sure they had a special day and for the children to know that we are proud of them,” Rodriguez said.

“We wanted to make sure that they knew we did not forget about them, even when we have not been able to see them face-to-face at school.”
