Rapids angler takes third in PMTT tournament

EAGLE RIVER – A Wisconsin Rapids angler placed third in Professional Musky Tournament Trail (PMTT) competition held June 27-28.
Eagle River Area Chamber of Commerce and Visitors Center welcomed 120 professional musky angler teams to the Eagle River area.
The PMTT anglers started on Eagle Lake, where they were able to fish the 10 lakes on the Eagle River side of the Eagle River Chain of Lakes for the entire tournament. Fishing hours on Saturday were from 7 a.m. – 4 p.m. and Sunday from 7 a.m. – 1 p.m.
Twenty-eight muskies of 30 inches or greater were registered on Saturday and nine muskies were registered on Sunday, caught and released.
There were 10 teams that placed in the tournament with fish registering at 30” and up to 45.5”.
The largest fish caught and released from the tournament was 45.5” by the team of James Carlson, Sr. and Tim Carlson.
First place in the PMTT went to Dan Wojtuski and Phil Hahn of Eagle River. They won the tournament by catching and releasing three muskies – 43.75”, 36” and 35”. With their win in the Eagle River PMTT tournament, they took home $17,000 in cash and two trophies.
Second place went to James Carlson, Sr. of West Bend and Tim Carlson of St. Petersburg, FL. They caught and released two muskies – 45.5” and 44.5” to win second place.
Third place went to Eric Jorgenson of Wisconsin Rapids and Jon Pahl of Appleton, WI. They caught and released two muskies – 43.25” and 43” to win third place.
