Port Edwards man charged in 1984 homicide case

WISCONSIN RAPIDS – The Wood County Sheriff’s Office and Wisconsin Department of Justice (DOJ) have made an arrest in the 1984 homicide of Eleanore Roberts.
John A. Sarver, 57, of Port Edwards, has been charged with first degree murder in the case.
Sarver was arrested at his home on Aug. 27 and has been booked into the Wood County Jail.
The Wood County Sheriff’s department has continued the investigation for decades, with assistance from the DOJ Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI).
The Wisconsin State Crime Laboratory is also assisting in the case, which is being prosecuted by DOJ Assistant Attorney General (AAG) Annie Jay, with assistance from AAG Dick Dufour. The DOJ Office of Crime Victim Services is providing victim services.
