For the City Times

WISCONSIN RAPIDS – The Wisconsin Rapids Riverkings started the season 4-0, as they took two from the Rochester Vipers Oct. 9-10 at home.

The Riverkings grabbed a 7-4 win Friday night, as hockey returned to Wisconsin Rapids. That was followed up by a second game which started out fast and aggressive as the Riverkings earned the weekend sweep.

Kyle Nestpny was the first of many to make a goal. He was assisted by Rapids very own Carson Gunderson and Max Gracer. The Riverkings also had goals from Grant Newcomer, Luke Hartge, Max Moore, Cole Creger, Jordan Stear, Carter Watters, Jeff Rebman, and Logan Harris.

Hartge scored three goals for a hat trick. Newcomer set a new Riverkings record with an impressive eight-point night – two goals and six assists.

Riley Allen was able to keep the net protected by only letting in two goals after 15 shots on goal.

The Riverkings sealed a 14-2 win that night.

This weekend, the team travels to Coon Rapids, MN, to play the Blue Ox.
