WOOD COUNTY – A Wood County woman is dead following a semi-UTV crash in the township of Arpin.

On Nov. 28 shortly after 6:30 a.m., Wood County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a crash involving a truck and a UTV near the intersection of State Highway 186 and County Highway K.

When emergency personnel arrived at the scene, it was determined the female operator and lone occupant of the UTV, Theresa M. Winch, 55, of Arpin, received fatal injuries after being ejected from the UTV. She was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The driver of the semi, Gary M. Zinthefer, 52, of Wisconsin Rapids, was not injured.

“The initial investigation indicated the UTV and semi were both traveling west on STH 186. The driver of the UTV was attempting to turn into a driveway to a field when they collided,” a sheriff’s office release stated.

Assisting the Wood County Sheriff’s Department were the Wood County Dispatch Center, Wisconsin State Patrol, Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, Pittsville ambulance, Arpin Fire Department, Wood County Highway Department, and the Wood County Coroner’s Office.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
