For the City Times

WISCONSIN RAPIDS – The Wisconsin Rapids Riverkings finished their three-game weekend sweep Dec. 12 at South Wood County Recreation Center (SWCRC), beating the Minnesota Blue Ox, 3-0, and setting a franchise record of 14-straight wins.

The Riverkings started the three-game set on the road in the Dells. The Riverkings showed off a balanced scoring attack with 16 players registering at least one point in the 14-0 win. Torger Stachurski and Alex Smedley splitting the shutout in net.

Friday the Riverkings welcomed division rivals Minnesota Blue Ox to SWCRC. In a battle for first place, the Blue had handed the Riverkings their two loses and an impressive 13-3 record. On Friday, the Riverkings gave up the first goal, but responded with a decisive 6-2 win. Jacob Jakusz scored two goals and Riley Allen was stellar in the net for his seventh season win.

Saturday started with Cole Creger scoring two goals and, assisted Nathan Bottles, got the third and final goal. Luke Hartge also assisted in the three goals. Kyle McNair stopped 21 shots for the shutout.

The three wins helped the Riverkings improve to 18-2-1 on the season.
