Nekoosa man injured in motorcycle-deer crash

WOOD COUNTY – A Nekoosa man sustained serious injuries, after the motorcycle he was driving hit a deer in the town of Saratoga.
On June 5, shortly before 1:30 a.m., the Wood County Sheriff’s Department responded to a motorcycle crash on Ranger Road near Hollywood Road.
“Upon arrival on scene it was determined that the lone occupant of the motorcycle had struck a deer while operating on Ranger Road,” a sheriff’s department release stated.
“The operator of the motorcycle sustained serious injuries and was airlifted to a nearby hospital.
The operator is currently in critical but stable condition.”
The man was later identified as Edward D. Hardwick, 45, Nekoosa.
The Wood County Sheriff’s Department was assisted on scene by the Wood County Sheriff’s Rescue, Nekoosa Fire Department, Wisconsin Rapids Ambulance, Life Link air transport, and the Nekoosa Police Department.
