CWSF Draft Horse Show reunites with fair

MARSHFIELD – The Central Wisconsin State Fair (CWSF) Draft Horse Show is reuniting with the fair for 2021.
Show co-superintendent, Kurt Meyer said that the show originally moved away from the CWSF weekend to oblige exhibitors, as it was competing with other shows.
“So, we tried to accommodate the exhibitors we had at the time and try to make it a standalone show, and I don’t believe that really went that well. It was great for the exhibitors, but not for the spectators,” Meyer explained.
So, with the spectators in mind, the 2021 show was moved back to coordinate with the weekend of the annual fair.
“To help bring in more people and help with the crowd and the draw to the fair,” Meyer added.
The show will take place Aug. 28-29, with exhibitors of various ages.
“It will be everything from youth cart up to six-horse hitch. The six-horse hitch will be done both days – Saturday and Sunday. The youth show, I believe we’ll do it all on Saturday – youth halter shows and then youth cart, which is one horse on a two-wheel cart, and then youth team, which would be two horses on a wagon,” Meyer explained.
Meyer said that fans can look forward to seeing Belgians, Percherons, and Clydesdales breeds during the show.
The show will take place at the Marshfield Fairgrounds, 513 E. 17th Street, Marshfield. For more information, visit www.centralwisconsinstatefair.com/events/2018/cwsf-draft-horse-show.
The CWSF will be held Aug. 24-29.
