Newman, Martin named 2021 MVP Award winners

WISCONSIN RAPIDS – The Wisconsin Rapids Area Sports Commission has named Jim Newman and Charlie Martin as their 2021 MVP Award winners.

Newman was selected for his work with WIAA state cross country, while Martin was chosen for his work involving WIAA state gymnastics.

Each year, the Wisconsin Rapids Area Sports Commission MVP Award acknowledges an individual who demonstrates commitment, creativity, and dynamic energy toward the growth of sports tourism in the community. Nominations were submitted by the community and their peers. The 2021 Nominees were: Andy Francis, Wisconsin Rapids Rafters; Larry Halverson and Kathy Halverson, The Rome Sno-Bandits; Bob Birkhauser, Assumption Athletics; Jim Newman and Charlie Martin, WIAA state events; and Karen Scarseth, Bullseye Golf Club.

The Wisconsin Rapids Area Sports Commission is an extension of the Wisconsin Rapids AreaConvention and Visitors Bureau.
