Illinois man arrested for eighth OWI

WOOD COUNTY – On Sept. 30, 2021, Portage County Dispatch received a report of a subject passed out in a vehicle at a gas station.
“The vehicle took off before officers arrived. Later Wood County Dispatch received a report of the same vehicle swerving while operating on the roadway and failed to stop for a stop sign,” a Wood County Sheriff’s Department release stated.
The driver was pulled over on State Highway 34/Wilson Street in the city of Wisconsin Rapids, just before 3 a.m.
“The Wood County Sheriff’s Department located and stopped the vehicle. The operator, a 50-year-male from Bolingbrook, IL, was arrested for eighth offense operating while intoxicated.”
No other information has been released.
