WISCONSIN RAPIDS — A new men’s amateur baseball team is coming to Wisconsin Rapids.
The Rapids Redhawks are launching a new amateur mens’ baseball team to compete in the Wisconsin Dairyland League which includes the Marshfield Chaparrals and the Pittsville River Bandits.
The team is planning to compete in the 2022 season.
The Rapids Redhawks will be a non-profit, sports organization led by a board of directors.
President John Krommenakker has led the effort to form the team and bring men’s amateur baseball to Wisconsin Rapids.
He said his vision for the team includes giving men an opportunity to play amateur baseball competitively in the community, but also to conduct an organization that gives back and supports local charity and community giving.
“We want to be a partner in our community that gives back. We anticipate working closely with other non-profits and coordinating our games to promote charities and causes that are important to the people of Wisconsin Rapids, in addition to providing a competitive amateur baseball team for our community to enjoy watching,” Krommenakker said.
The Rapids Redhawks board is currently organizing their 2022 schedule and roster.
The addition of the Wisconsin Rapids Area Sports Complex at Lincoln High School will give the Redhawks a facility to host home games and tournaments.
