Port Edwards girls fall to Wausau Newman

PORT EDWARDS – The Port Edwards girls basketball team fell to Wausau Newman in a Nov. 22 non-conference game at Port Edwards.
The Blackhawks kept it close in the first half, down by only 10, 18-8, at the half. Wausau Newman’s press gave the Blackhawks fits at times as they had 15 turnovers at the break.
Port Edwards couldn’t get much offense going in the second half either as the Cardinals cruised to a 36-16 win.
Scorers for Port Edwards were: Taylor Martin, 5; Melanie Sillars, 5; Aubree Shroda, 2; Nadia Ellingson, 2; and Alliyah Ruiz, 2.
The loss moved Port Edwards’ record to 0-2.
