Multiple people arrested on drug charges

WOOD COUNTY – Multiple people were arrested on drug charges, after a search warrant was executed in the town of Port Edwards.
In the early morning hours of Feb. 16, members of the Wood County Sheriff’s Department’s Special Response Team executed a search warrant.
“Amounts of cocaine, THC, as well as THC cartridges were located and seized. Information was also developed regarding a second associated location within the city of Nekoosa. A search warrant of the Nekoosa location was executed and a large amount of cocaine was seized,” a joint press release from Wood County Sheriff Shawn Becker and Nekoosa Police Chief Shawn Woods stated.
“Multiple individuals were arrested from each location and charges have been sent to the Wood County District Attorney’s Office for prosecution to include charges of Possession with Intent to Deliver Cocaine, Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession of THC, Possession of other controlled substances, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Possession of Firearms by a Felon.
“The controlled substances seized from the residences had an approximate street value of over $5,000.”
The investigation was a joint team effort among the Wood County Sheriff’s Department, the Nekoosa Police Department, the Central Wisconsin Drug Task Force, as well as the Wisconsin Rapids Fire Department EMS Team.
“The Wood County Sheriff’s Department, as well as the Nekoosa Police Department, will continue to take a strong stance against individuals who continue to distribute illegal substances within the central Wisconsin area,” the release added.
