For the City Times
WISCONSIN RAPIDS – Over the past weekend, members of the Wisconsin Rapids Aqua Skiers headed down to attend the 46th Annual Think Tank Water Ski Convention & Expo in Wisconsin Dells. The convention featured training for nearly every water ski discipline, as well as seminars on a variety of other topics including team management, show production, club operations, fundraising, and insurance.
Brand new to the convention this year was the addition of the Show Ski Podcast Awards sponsored by Flyman Skis and Lake Lovers Club.
The podcast’s award ceremony presented 30 different awards to show skiers and teams from all over the country. The Wisconsin Rapids Aqua Skiers were presented with the award for the Best Event Hosts. The team hosts the Wisconsin State Water Ski Show Championships every year at Lake Wazeecha.
“We are honored to receive such a prestigious award for all our hard work and dedication in planning the world’s largest water ski show tournament”, stated State Committee member Jordan Moon. “Our members work so incredibly hard every year to not only pull off such a large tournament, but to also compete in the tournament. It is a week in the summer that our members look forward to every season”, stated Moon.
The team is honored to bring in over 24 teams and 75 individual competitors to the community for the yearly event. The economic impact of the four-day tournament can be felt throughout local businesses. Wisconsin State Water Ski Show Championships Tournament Director and Aqua Skiers Member, Maggie Muleski, was also nominated for the Official of the Year Award.
The Wisconsin Rapids Aqua Skiers Show Team is a non-profit competitive show water ski team. Their goal is to develop the talents of members so they can perform at the highest caliber.
