WOOD COUNTY – Two people were injured in a township of Richfield crash in Wood County.

On May 16, shortly before 6 p.m. the Wood County Sheriff’s Department responded to a car versus dump truck crash on County Highway N near Bethel Road.

“A vehicle traveling westbound on County Highway N collided head on with a dump truck that was traveling eastbound on County Highway N,” a sheriff’s release stated.

“The operator of the car was transported to the Marshfield Medical Center for injuries sustained from the crash and is currently in critical but stable condition. The operator of the dump truck sustained minor injuries and has been released from the hospital.”

The driver of the dump truck was later identified as Brian K. Guldan, 65, of Wisconsin Rapids. The vehicle operator was identified as Phillip S. Prust, 32, of Marshfield.

The Wood County Sheriff’s Department was assisted on scene by the Arpin Fire Department, Richfield Fire Department, Marshfield Ambulance, Wisconsin State Patrol, and the Wood County Highway Department.

A portion of County Highway N was closed for approximately six hours. The crash remains under investigation by the Wood County Sheriff’s Department and the Wisconsin State Patrol.
