Warren named next Wisconsin Rapids City Times editor
By Wisconsin Rapids City Times staff
WISCONSIN RAPIDS — A former Wood County radio news-sports personality will serve as the next editor for Multi Media Channels’ two Wood County publications.
Mike Warren is a native of Spencer and has lived in Marshfield since 1983, graduating from Marshfield Senior High School in 1991.
In August 1992, Mike began his broadcast career at WDLB-AM1450 as an announcer, a board operator, and commercial producer.
In July of 1993, Mike moved over to the news department, where he worked under news director Thom Gerretsen, along with part-time reporter/anchor Marilyn Hansotia. Mike took over as news director upon Thom’s departure in May 1999.
Warren continued a nearly 30-year career covering news and sports with the Marshfield radio station, and its former sister station WFHR-AM 1320 in Wisconsin Rapids, until the spring of 2022.
Since then, Warren has worked as a news and sports freelancer with the Marshfield Hub City Times.
Warren has proved to be a valuable resource for the Wood County publications and was a natural fit as editor for the Marshfield Hub City Times and Wisconsin Rapids City Times publications.
Warren will begin his staff position on June 27.
As Mike comes on as editor, previous editor, Kris Leonhardt, will transition to focus on the editorial for the Portage County and new Clark County publications. Leonhardt will continue in her management role in the Multi Media Channels’ central region and will still play a role in the Wood County publication operations.
Warren may be reached at [email protected] or stop in the Marshfield office at 104 E. Second St., Marshfield, or the Wisconsin Rapids office at 2619 Post Rd., Suite D, Stevens Point.
