Margaret “Peggy” Anne Lee (Cahill)
February 6, 1943 – February 26, 2023
Margaret “Peggy” Anne Lee (Cahill) passed peacefully on February 26, 2023, with her family by her side.
She is survived by her daughter, Jacquie Gilbertson, Wisconsin Rapids, WI; sons, William, Wisconsin
Rapids, WI, James and his wife Laura, Cape Coral, FL; four grandchildren, Ryan Gilbertson, Ross Lee,
Amanda Nabbefeldt and Tyler Nabbefeldt; three great grandchildren, Riley and Ryder Ringer and Lucas
Lee; brother, Thomas Cahill and his wife Patti; and sister, Kathy (Cahill) Haas and her husband Mike. She
is predeceased by her husband, Kenneth Lee; daughter, Mary Nabbefeldt; and son-in-law, David (Gilby)
Gilbertson.
Peggy grew up in Port Edwards, WI and graduated from Assumption High School. She was one of the
first lifeguards at the YMCA swimming pool in Port Edwards. She enjoyed arts and crafts, specifically
knitting, which always became gifts for friends and family. She married her first husband, Kenneth Lee,
who tragically passed in a skydiving accident in 1969. She was married to Dale Vanderhei in the 70’s
which ended in divorce. Peggy worked in the Converting Department at Consolidated Papers in
Wisconsin Rapids from 1969 to 2000.
Peggy’s pride and joy were her family. She loved spending time with her kids, grandkids, and great
grandchildren. She often had a house full of family which always meant a house full of fun and laughter.
She especially loved spending time with her family in her pool and was known for making the best
holiday memories. In addition to her family, Peggy loved country music and attending concerts with her
daughter Jacquie and her wonderful friends. She especially loved Travis Tritt, Marty Stewart, and Trace
Atkins and all the other country music family. She was one of the original members of the fan clubs for
her boys Travis and Trace. Her home and photo albums are full of pictures she had taken backstage with
her favorites. Travis Tritt always greeted her with a “Hi Mom” and a hug.
Peggy had a heart of gold and quick wit. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends, but we
rejoice that she is reunited now with her daughter Mary and others who passed before her.
