Douglas R. Ketelle, 63, of Port Edwards, went to be with his Lord on Friday, February 1, 2019, at Aspirus Riverview Hospital, with the love of his life, Elaine, and Pastor Dean, whom Doug had the highest regard for, by his side.

A Life Celebration service will be held at 3:00 P.M. on Saturday, February 9, 2019 at Herman-Taylor Funeral Home in Wisconsin Rapids. Pastor Dean Anderson will officiate. Inurnment will take place at Port Edwards Municipal Cemetery at a later date. A time for family and friends to share loving memories of Doug will take place on Saturday, February 9, 2019 beginning at 1:30 P.M.  ALL EVENTS WILL TAKE PLACE AT THE FUNERAL HOME. Online condolences may be expressed at www.taylorfuneralhome.net.

Doug was born July 25, 1955 in Marshfield, WI to James and Sue (Lybrand) Ketelle. Doug graduated from John Edwards High School in Port Edwards, WI as a member of the Class of 1973. He loved listening to and playing music. Doug was a gifted musician, performing professionally with various bands when he was younger, and longed to form another band with Elaine being his lead singer. Doug recently accumulated guitars and various amps.  He tried to write songs, in his mind, most every week, and would sing them to Elaine to see what she thought of them. He could sell anything and spent most of his life as an independent aerial photography salesman. Doug had so much joy in planting a garden every year and sitting out there watching it grow. One day Elaine said, “I know what you are doing, you are being the scarecrow!” Doug beamed with his infectious smile and replied, “You just figured that out?”

He read the Bible multiple times and loved to share his great faith in the Lord and knowledge of the Bible with others. He had an amazing curiosity about science, that would lead to discussions and debates with people. Doug liked sketching cartoons with funny captions.  He strived to be humorous, right up until his last words that he was able to speak, despite recently being diagnosed with stage 4 cancer.  He is loved and will be deeply missed.

Doug is survived by his wife, Elaine; his siblings: Jayne Knapp and Amy Irwin; his brothers and sisters-in-law: John Thompson, John and Alita Ksionek, Bernie and Becky Ksionek, Gary and Debra Sabatke, Jeanette Ksionek and Mary Wiatrowski, and Arnie Ksionek; his nephew and Godson, Wyatt Ksionek; his step-mother, Kay Neukirchen; his mother-in-law, Clarice McCrossen; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Doug is preceded in death by his siblings: Dave Ketelle, John Ketelle, Vicki Bennett, and Lynda Thompson; and his nephews: Isaiah Voss, Caleb Voss, and Alan Knapp.

Herman-Taylor Funeral Home is honored to be serving the Ketelle Family.
