Genealogy Class Offered Through Mid-State Technical College
For the City Times
WISCONSIN RAPIDS – A basic genealogy research class will be offered through Mid-State Technical College’s continuing education. The class will meet on Mondays, May 7–21, from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Wisconsin Rapids campus. There will also be a class on Saturday, May 19, from 9 a.m. to noon at a local cemetery or other site relevant to genealogical research.
This course offers a chance to explore the basics of genealogy research and legacy preservation, including database and microfilm searches, archival preservation of photos and documents, non-digital research methods, interview techniques and more. Participants will build confidence with oral and written communications as well.
As a prelude, participants can also attend Mid-State’s next speaker series offering, “Capturing Voices Before They Are Gone: Your Family Members in Their Own Words,” on April 24. This will be held at the Wisconsin Rapids campus but offered via Telepresence at all Mid-State locations.
