Letter to the Editor: Assembly candidate greets City Times readers

Dear editor,
I’m Dave Gorski and I’m running to be your state representative for the 72nd assembly district in central Wisconsin.
A life-long Wisconsinite, I’ll serve to protect what matters: Our families, homes, communities to keep Wisconsin vibrant and peaceful.
Here’s where I stand on some major issues.
If elected I’ll bring down health care costs, protect our lakes and rivers, hold the line on taxes and make our public schools the best in the state.
I’ll work to ensure honest work garners honest wages in a growing economy nourished by state government that does not pick winners and losers.
Wisconsin needs to take federal Medicaid money. This is money we paid in federal taxes that should be moving back to us. Instead, we’re giving the money away — $200 million a year.
Lakes and streams that are on the state’s impaired list have doubled the last seven years.
Our gorgeous lakes and streams need protection.
Our public schools are the heart of our communities, and a cornerstone of our democracy.
State funding to public schools has dropped by $3.5 billion over seven years. Don’t be fooled by election-year increases in funding. The truth is: 2019 funding for public schools is $153 million less than 2011.
My stands on public policy come from our shared values and virtues.
I hope you’ll consider me when selecting your candidate for state assembly.
