Saturday Shooting Suspect Expected to Face First-Degree Homicide Charges

WISCONSIN RAPIDS — A 59-year-old man is being held on a $1 million dollar bond for the suspected shooting death at Higher Grounds Bakery on Saturday.
According to reports, Gary Bohman was seen via video surveillance inside Higher Grounds Bakery, 4231 Eighth St. South. He soon pulled out a 9mm pistol, and shot 39-year-old Christopher Race in the stomach, who was working behind the counter.
A call was made at approximately 1:08 p.m., where police would find Race on the ground. Authorities soon declared him dead at the scene.
Bohman was located in the parking lot, where after initial questioning, a 9mm pistol was found on him. He was soon taken into custody.
A motive for the shooting has not been released to the public.
Bohman is expected to be charged with first-degree intentional homicide. His next court appearance is slated for April 2.
