WISCONSIN RAPIDS – The Wisconsin Rapids Parks & Recreation Department is once again offering its Community Tree Sale. Order a tree for yourself of the community. Deadline for orders is Monday, April 14, with pickup in early May at the City Garage (1411 Chase Street)
Five tree varieties are being offered this year:
Pink Sparkles Crab
Soft pink flowers and light-green foliage. Produce long-lasting, vibrant red decorative fruit. The cherry red fruit lasts the entire winter. Best for sunny locations. 12-15’ H x 10-12’ W, 5 foot tree: $45
Spring Snow
Fall Fiesta Sugar Maple
Upright round habit with thick, leathery, glossy green foliage that turns orange, red, and yellow in fall. Vigorous, fast grower. Best for sunny locations. 50-70’ H x 35-45’ W, 8 foot tree: $100
Japanese Tree Lilac
Sturdy, compact, and fragrant tree with creamy white flower plumes that can grow to be 10-12” long. Best for sunny locations. 20-25’ H x 15-20’ W, 8-10’ tree: $100
Canadian Hemlock
A graceful evergreen tree with loose, open growth, slender and drooping branches. Does well in shade, part shade, and sunny locations. 35-50’ H x 25-35’ W, 18” tree: $30
