Posted

NEKOOSA – The history of central Wisconsin will come to life in June, when Historic Point Basse holds its annual Pioneer Festival.

Historical interpreters will portray open-hearth piemakers, fur traders and more as they transport festival-goers to the 1800s. They can tour the Wakely House, built in 1841, and visit a trading post, blacksmith shop and lumber camp bunkhouse.

Food and beverages will be available. The event will be 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. June 7 and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. June 8 at Historic Point Basse, 364 Wakely Road, Nekoosa. Cost is $5 for adults and $3 for students 5 and older; children younger than 5 and Point Basse members get in free.
