WISCONSIN RAPIDS – Aspirus Athletic Training will offer an Injury Prevention & Sports Performance Program for middle school and high school students this summer.
The program includes two sessions per week for six weeks and is led by licensed athletic trainers, Josh Scott, MSEd, LAT; Dani Kilps, LAT; and Alissa Pikka, MS, LAT. Students do not need to be in a sport to participate.
The program focuses on: improving overall performance, utilizing proper body mechanics, learning proper landing mechanics and injury prevention, and having fun while being active. It is designed to improve the student’s functional, dynamic, and agility skills. Participants progress from range of motion, flexibility, and mobility activities to functional, dynamic, and plyometric activities. They also learn about proper body mechanics, form, and technique in order to correct poor movement patterns.
The program will be offered at Assumption High School, Wisconsin Rapids, from11 a.m. - noonon Mondays and Wednesdays fromJune 18 - July 25. It will be offered at Nekoosa High School, 3-4 p.m.on Tuesdays and Thursdays fromJune 19 - July 26. Students may register for the location that best suits their schedule, but may only participate in sessions at their selected location.
