Assumption’s Thomas dominates sprints at Wood County Invite

WISCONSIN RAPIDS – Assumption High School track competed in the Wood County Invite held at Lincoln High School on April 29, with Bella Thomas dominating in her sprints.

The junior took gold in the 100 meter, 400m and 200m. Another junior, Lucy Dolan, took gold in the 3200m, breaking a 37-year-old school record with a times of 11:17.23. The senior also had a showing, with Brooklyn Schoenick bringing home gold in the 1600m run (5:36.58)

Top 5 finishers included:

• 4x800m relay: Brooklyn Schoenick,  Lucy Dolan, Callie Schoenick and Leire Sainz De Rosa, second
• 1600m run: Leire Sainz De Rosa, second; Callie Schoenick, fifth
• 800m run: Brooklyn Schoenick, third
• 3200m run: Leire Sainz De Rosa, second

The AHS boys team also had many top performances, lead by senior Joseph Johnson taking second in the 100m (11.36) and 400m (53.07).

• 400m dash: - Thomas Hannum, third; Aiden Daliege, fourth
• 1600m run: Reed Hartjes, second
• 800m run: Reed Hartjes, fifth
• 3200m run: Harrison Zacher, fourth
• 4x400m relay: Joseph Johnson, Thomas Hannum, Aiden Daliege and Cullen Thomas, third
