WISCONSIN RAPIDS – The Boys & Girls Club of the Wisconsin Rapids Area is gearing up for its 2017, 10 week summer program, “Extreme S.T.E.A.M” (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics) running from June 12to August 18.

Good luck cooling down at the Boys & Girls Club with the summer of S.T.E.A.M they have planned. They will be open Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. The program is open to kids ages 6 and up. The Club will provide breakfast, lunch and an afternoon snack daily.

Here are some of the exciting activities to look forward to for youth this summer:

  • Field trip to the Madison Zoo
  • Mini golfing excursion to Newman’s 1st Miniature Golf
  • A Rafter’s game
  • Field trip to the MMSD Planetarium
  • Kids From Wisconsin outreach
  • Walking field trip to Peach Street Farmers Market

In addition to those fun activities there will be daily programming to combat summer learning loss for the kids in this community. They will be running, “Brain Gain”, a program focused on challenging kids to excel in math and reading. This will help to keep them cognitively stimulated throughout the summer, as the program will run every morning at the Club, with other S.T.E.A.M centered enrichments in the afternoon.

“I think this is going to be the best summer yet for the Boy & Girls Club because of the variety of programming and activities we are offering youth," said Operations Director Heather Khachhani. "This is the first time we are dedicating one of our leadership team members solely to programming for the entire 10 weeks. We are looking forward to a summer of impact."

All of this is available to families in the community for just $100 per child, with a family cap of $200 (there are scholarships available). Registration forms can be picked up at the Pitsch Unit office: 501 17th Street South, Wisconsin Rapids, WI 54494.
